LOST is Explaining Deaths

This was a terrific episode. I was sad to watch it though. This is the last episode before the finale. This is one of the few shows that I have watched to the end that managed to not fizzle out. The plot and writing have remained strong to the end.

.

Be sure to tune in Sunday night for the Finale!

.

1) The Concert!! That is going to be a big event. First we learned that David is going to be playing at the concert with Papa Jack planning on attending. I’m not sure if he will still make it to the concert on time, since Desmond has sent him looking for his Dad’s body. Other people we know will be attending include Charlotte, Miles, Miles’ Dad (sorry, I forgot his name), Desmond, and Kate. I’m not sure if Hurley and Sayid will attend be there. I’m kind of thinking that Desmond has other plans for those two. But if they do end up attending, I’m thinking that Libby might come as well.

.

Miles said that it was a fundraiser for his Dad’s work. Do you think he is still working for the Dharma Initiative? How weird would that be to see a concert hall all done up with the Dharma insignia everywhere! Haha! I’m thinking that whatever project he is working on, he probably has Charles Whidmore or Eloise involved. You know we are going to see more of those two at some point during the finale. Actually, I’m thinking, more than anyone else, we need to see Eloise and Daniel. They both knew something was up in the Sideways timeline. Especially Eloise! I would like to see more of what she knows…

.

2) Desmond is fabulous. I can’t believe he went after Ben like he did and how crazy that getting beat up by Desmond is what helped Ben to see. Then he goes to Sawyer to confess and gets thrown in prison with Sayid and Kate. I started cracking up when I saw that. However, I just thought that Desmond would try to talk to them both while in prison. I should have known that crafty and intelligent man had more up his sleeve. He is doing a superb job linking the Oceanic passengers to each other. Do you think Eloise is going to be mad at him? ;)

.

I loved the prison break. I loved that Hurley was the accomplice and financer of the operation. And I loved that Hurley apologized to Desmond for bring him the Camaro. Haha! That was great!

.

3) Jack needs his eyebrows trimmed and one particular eyebrow hair just needs to be plucked! When the scene opened up on his eye, all I could see was that one long, nasty looking eyebrow hair looping down over his pretty green eye. As someone who has to trim their own eyebrows, I understand that it’s not always easy to keep up with the maintenance. But come on! Jack has a whole team of make-up people who make sure the blood and scars are in the same place for each episode. Why couldn’t someone have watched out for the man’s eyebrows too?

.

4) Benjamin Linus is a conundrum. I really like him, but he keeps doing bad, bad things on the Island. Remember when he almost died as a little boy and was saved at the temple. Kate was warned that he “would never be the same again”. Do you think the temple sucked out his conscious? Do you think it was the temple’s fault that he turned into such a self-serving, self-preserving-no-matter-who-gets-hurt kind of guy? Of course it didn’t. Ben has proved that he can be kind and loving. He proved that when he saved Alex and then as he raised her. He’s shown compassion when dealing with the Others. He can be the kindest, warmest man, then he’ll turn around and snap your neck. I just really don’t know what to think about him. I’ve been going through this for how many seasons know??? Ey-yah!

.

Sideways Ben is nice through and through. He started to get a little power hungry when dealing with the principle, but pulled back for Alex. How great was it to see Sideways Ben meet Danielle! My goodness, did you see the sparks? I certainly did. I also don’t think it was onions that made Ben tear up. Neither did Danielle. She was very sweet when she played along with Ben’s excuse and promised to use less onions the next time. It was a tender moment when she told him that Alex saw him as a father-figure. I said it before and I’ll say it again, I want to see Sideways Ben happy and settled down with a wife. I kind of played around with the idea of Danielle because Island Ben loved Alex so much, but I never thought it would really happen. That’s one of the things I love about this show…they keep throwing me for a loop, but in such a way that it makes sense and I totally buy it!

.

5) Back to the beginning. Jack and John are again arguing Fate versus Coincidence. But both are now mature enough to agree to disagree politely. Or maybe the politeness comes from the fact that they aren’t all stuck on an Island and majorly stressing out. It was interesting to watch their exchange in Jack’s office. John and Jack both have not yet flashed, but they are definitely benefiting from lessons they learned on the Island. I wonder what will finally make them both “see”…

.

6) If Whidmore is always three steps ahead of Ben then:

.

A - Why didn’t he sink the boat before he headed to the houses? Why didn’t he just stash his equipment into some bushes and sink the stinking boat!

.

B - Why in the world did he think that Ben would actually keep his hiding spot secret?

.

C – How did he not see it coming that Ben would want revenge for Alex’s death?

.

D – Why would he think that BSM would actually spare his daughter’s life if he gave up the info regarding Desmond?

.

E – How did he not see it coming that Ben would go a little nuts and kill him?

.

Sorry to tell you this Charles, but you are definitely NOT three steps ahead of Ben. L

.

7) Richard can’t die. BSM threw him hard, but the man can’t die. I am wondering how Richard will figure in to the season finale. Also, where is Miles? Do you think he will run into Jack and the others? Or do you think the BSM will bet to him first? I’m thinking that the Lost writers will have Miles first run in to somebody so that his death will make more of an impact. The Lost writers don’t seem to kill off anybody quietly or without someone watching.

.

8) Ben agreed to help BSM in exchange for the Island. At the end of the episode, BSM told Ben he planned to blow up the whole Island…the very thing he’d told Ben he could have. With this newfound info, I’m thinking that Ben won’t be as loyal to BSM as he might otherwise have been. Although, I don’t think Ben was loyal to BSM at any point. Ben kind of seems to just be in pure survival mode. He is doing whatever he can to stay alive. Do you think he will be the Gollum of this story? A twisted creature who unwittingly helps to overcome the evil. Or do you think he will be more like the Darth Vader? A man who at the very end recognizes the good and sacrifices his own life to defeat the evil. At this point, I’m thinking it will be one of these two. And yes, in both my scenarios Ben dies. I really can’t see the Lost writers letting him live. I will be quite surprised if he survives the finale.

.

9) Why did BSM leave Claire alone on the other Island? I say alone because I am sure that BSM killed everyone else before he left. I don’t know what is going to happen to her. Also, now that Jack is the replacement, what is going to happen to Kate, Sawyer, and Hurley? Since they are no longer candidates, I am thinking that the BSM will be free to kill them. Watch out guys!!!

.

10) Jack is the Replacement!!! Wow! I thought it would be him. I like that Jacob let them volunteer. I half-expected Sawyer, after hearing Jack volunteer, to jump up and insist that he be the one instead, just to outdo Jack. Haha. I’m glad that he kept his head cool in that moment. I think it will be a good job for Jack. It will give purpose and meaning to his life, he will be serving and helping. It was good to see Jack be sure of himself too. Confidence in himself is something that Jack has continuously struggled with. Even as he volunteered, he was almost asking Jacob if that was the right choice. I’m glad that Jacob called him on that. “Is that a question Jack?” I was happy when Jack answered more confidently that it was not. Good job Jack. Now go protect the light.

.

Wasn’t it interesting to learn some of the reasons behind why Jacob chose the people he did?

.

And, how do you think they will finally kill the BSM? I just had a totally weird and random thought!!! Hahahaha!! My kids, for that last few months, have really been in to watching the “Ernest” movies. In the Halloween Ernest, there are monster trolls who are defeated by milk. But one of the trolls has grown so large that the only way left for Ernest to destroy it is by loving it and giving it a great big kiss! Hahahaha!! If the Lost writers go anywhere near the plot line of killing the BSM with love or kindness I am going to have an asthma attack from laughing too hard! Hahaha!!!

.

11) Do you notice Jack’s face as he drank the water? His eyes fluttered and then opened with such a look of understanding and enlightenment. That was some good acting! I had wondered how Jack would know how to protect the light. I had wondered how Jacob knew, since his Fake Momma hadn’t had time to explain everything. After watching Jack’s eyes after drinking the water, I have decided that when a person becomes the Protector, they just know how to do the job. I wonder how long Jack will last. BSM was unable to hurt Jacob or his candidates, but will the deal extend to the new protector? And do you think Jack has any powers now? Jacob didn’t seem to have any, but how cool would it be if Jack could find some way to harness the light within himself and cast the BSM back down into the hole. Yeah! That would be great!

.

********

To close things out, I am going to list my favorite lines from this episode.

.

Favorite Lines:

.

1) Miles to Ben: “I loved in those houses 30 years before you did. Otherwise known as last week.”

.

2) Exchange between Ben & Richard while getting the C-4

Ben: Richard, it’s your idea. Are we looking to cripple the plane or blow it to hell?

Richard: Blow it to hell.

Ben: Then we better take it all.

.

3) Desmond to Sawyer: “I’m the suspect.”

.

4) Sideways Ben explaining his injuries to Alex: “I found myself confronting someone who had a bit of a temper.”

.

5) Jacob responding to Kate’s question: “It’s just a line of chalk in a cave. The job is yours if you want it Kate.”

.

6) Sawyer while watching Jack’s initiation: “And I thought that guy had a God complex before.”

LOST in a Flashback

Cakes is asleep on my couch. Jim is asleep in his bassinet. Mr. J is at preschool. And I have twenty minutes to myself before I pick up Joe from Kindergarten. Since the babe was born I have been using any time to myself to catch up on sleep. But twenty minutes is only enough time for me to fall asleep and wake up with a killer headache. So instead of sleeping, I will finally post my thoughts regarding last week's episode of LOST.

.

.

.

.

.

***Lost Spoilers Ahead...Proceed With Caution***

.

.

.

.

.

.

What a fabulous episode! The Lost writers really are putting out strong and focused stories, for which I am deeply grateful.

.

1) As soon as Jacob's Spanish-speaking Bio-Momma pushed him out, I turned to Hubby and said: "Look at her stomach! It's still full. The special effects people must not have ever seen a real woman's tummy after the baby came out." Hubby just laughed. Having just given birth a mere three weeks ago, we remembered quite well that a new momma's tummy is like a big old deflated balloon after giving birth.

.

Turns out that the Lost writers had something else up their sleeves. I was a little surprised to see a twin follow Jacob. Last year I, and a few friends, had toyed with the idea of a Jacob & Esau type of relationship for Jacob and the Man in Black. But we pretty much concluded that we were reaching too far and let the idea go. I was surprised that we were so close in our musings!

.

2) What is with Jacob's brother not getting a name? Sheesh! Poor little guy. I do know two other guys who are only known as Brother. One is Jared's Brother, but he had a name...it was just too hard for some people to say. The other guy is Brother on the Berenstein Bears, but at least his parents were fair about it and named his little sister Sister.

.

I think it has a deeper meaning that Brother was called only Brother. I just don't quite know what that meaning it yet...

.

3) I was pleasantly surprised by Fake Momma's kindness to Bio-Momma when she first washed up on the Island. I thought she might be taken in and cared for by Fake Momma. After the initial kindness I was shocked when Fake Momma reached for the rock! The duplicity was stunning! I mean, the woman had just given birth! To Twins!

.

Duplicity in characters has been a common theme in Lost. Characters are nice and calm with loved ones, and crazy-psycho-killers to anyone who poses a threat. I think most people have that duplicity in them. I know I do. Well, I'm not a crazy-psycho killer, but I will fight you if you try to mess with my kids!!! ;)

.

It was interesting when Fake Momma explained that the Island brought Jacob and Brother to her to replace her in watching the light. She was so loving to both boys. When Jacob ratted out Brother regarding the game, I thought for sure the poor guy was going to be in a heap of trouble. Instead, we learned that Fake Momma was the one who had supplied the game. It was also interesting to learn that Jacob is incapable of lying, unlike Brother.

.

4) How cool was the Light in the Cave! Fake Momma described it as the warmest, brightest light ever. She said it encompassed life and death. Did you see the boys' faces when Fake Momma said that one of them would take her place guarding the light? Brother's face lit up at the thought of guarding the light. He was excited and eager to be the guard. Jacob's face remained the same as it had been before. Just calm. I got the feeling that he was much more naive than Brother..much less aware...

.

5) Brother is like Hurley! They both are visited by dead people. Young Brother is convinced that he needs to rejoin his people. Fake Momma warns him that they are bad, but he doesn't believe her anymore. Adult Brother learns that the people are bad. He doesn't see any redeeming qualities in them. But he remains with them in his attempt to leave the Island.

.

Young Jacob accepted Fake Momma's decree that the other people were bad, but Older Jacob sees redeeming qualities in them. Isn't it interesting how the two brothers' opinions changed over time?

.

I liked seeing that even though Brother left, Jacob still kept up contact with him. They would still play the game and talk.

.

6) Jacob's loyalty is intense! When his Brother tells him the truth about their Bio-Momma, Jacob just can't believe it and beats poor Brother down. Jacob remains with Fake Momma, even though he knows she loves Brother best. And Jacob became the guardian of the light at his mom's insistence, even though he knew she would have preferred Brother to be the guardian.

.

However, I did not expect Jacob to kill his brother. I know Brother had just murdered Fake Momma, but she** had just destroyed the entire village... And I certainly did not expect Jacob to throw his Brother down into the light. His Momma had told him never to go down there...that it was worse than death. And knowing that he still threw Brother into the light. Yowser!!! That boy does not deal well with negative emotions!

.

7) Brother was responsible for the wheel that transports people off the Island. Cool!!! I know that the well was covered up, but I am assuming that Brother just instructed others in how to finish what he had started.

.

I was really glad that the Lost writers didn't get into the nitty-gritty of how the light and water combined were capable of transporting people off the Island for two reasons. First, I am just too tired to hear a bunch of scientific explanations. And Second, at some point I will no longer be tired and would have actually research whatever explanation the writers had come up with to verify the accuracy and plausibility of their explanation and would have most likely been either greatly disappointed or greatly appalled by said explanation. And yes, I really would have researched the explanation because I am a big nerd. :P

.

I am curious to know how Brother came up with his idea. He said that He was Special. That comment makes me think that Dead people might have told him the idea. Or is he special in other ways besides the ability of talking to dead people? It could be either one.

.

8) Did you notice that Jacob became the guardian without a full understanding of the light or his role in protecting it? I wonder if that will come up later. Also, I wonder how the next guardian will do. Fake Momma had Jacob drink something as she spoke an incantation of some sort. Who will do that for the next guardian? And who will instruct the next guardian in their duties? Right now Hurley, Jack, and Sawyer all think the job is to guard the Island, when the real job is to guard the light.

.

9) Why do you think Fake Momma thanked Brother for killing her? Is she like Richard? I don' think so. She definitely looked older in the scenes with adult Jacob & Brother. She must be like Jacob, living on and on. I wonder how old she really was? And along this line of thought, I start wondering about how Jacob died. I thought that Ben had to be the one to kill Jacob because Ben was the leader of the others. But now I don't know.

.

OR do you think Fake Momma was saying thank you for something else? And if yes, what is she grateful for?
.
10) The drink that Jacob took to become the guardian...Isn't that the same bottle that Jacob gave to the Man in Black? The bottle that the Man in Black broke? Spilling the entire contents over the rocks? How is the next person going to become the guardian without the drink?
.
11) So we now know that Adam and Eve are really Fake Momma and Brother. It's nice to have one mystery explained. I started to type "Fully Explained" but had to delete the "Fully". I still have some questions regarding those two...
.

12) And finally, why is it that Jacob can leave the Island, but his Brother could not? I think I know why he can't leave know...I think it's because he is tied in with the Light and the BSM which must both remain on the Island. But why is it that Brother could not leave the Island when he was still a man? And why can Jacob leave? Did his Fake Momma leave the Island? What is that all about?

.

And that is it for me. My time to myself is long gone. Let me know what you thought about this episode. I am always curious as to others hypotheses. :)
.

.
.
**My Friend CrunchyConMommy thinks that Fake Momma might have used the Black Smoke Monster to destroy the village instead of doing it herself. She thinks that the BSM can be tapped into and used like that. She cites Ben using it against the mercenaries as evidence. Sounds like a great hypothesis to me!

LOST Tragedy

***LOST Spoilers Ahead...Proceed With Caution***

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

1) This evening my daughter Rose was working on her homework. She needed some help with one of the assignments. She was supposed to write a 7-up sentence using the word "Tragedy". A 7-up sentence is a sentence with seven words.

.

When I think of the word tragedy my mind turns to Shakespeare. We played around with different sentences using Shakespeare as our reference point. Rose ended up using "The play Hamlet is a great tragedy." A pretty straightforward statement, but it met the 7-up requirements.

.

Tonight's episode of LOST could also be called a tragedy. Let's see if I can come up with a 7-up sentence to describe what I mean..."The Kwans' death is an epic tragedy." or how about "The Kwans' death was a foreseeable tragedy." I think that one might fit better.

.

We all knew that either Jin or Sun were going to die. We knew it. I was thrilled last episode that Jin and Sun were both alive and healthy at their reunion. I had been so worried that the Lost writers would have the reunion be at the deathbed of one of them or that they would only be reunited after the death of the other spouse. It was wonderful to see them reunited happy and whole. But their deaths at the end of this episode....Whoa. That was just...Whoa.

.

I loved that Jin didn't leave her. He had said before that if he ever found Sun, he would never leave her side again. He kept that vow. It was heart-wrenching to see. Especially the final scene with their previously clasped hands slowly drifting apart in the water. Holy buckets! That was hard to watch.

.

I watched this episode while holding my new babe and I kept thinking about the Kwan's little girl. I kind of hoped that Jin would leave so he could raise his little girl. Of course, there was no guarantee that he would have made it off the Island, however I still kind of hoped. But his refusing to leave, Whoa. The love and commitment was astounding. Sun and Jin's relationship has been all over the place during their time on the Island and the three years apart. It was great to see it blossom into a true and deep and abiding love. What??? A lasting love??? Cue the Lost writers to destroy it! Those guys and gals just can't seem to stand watching anyone happy and in love. Do you think any of them are in happy and loving relationships? I sure hope at least one of them is. Of course, if there is one writer happily married they are probably married to someone with only three months to live. Sheesh!

.

2) Hooray for Bernard! It was nice to see him. (Please note he is happily married...to a woman who is dying.) He gave Jack the name "Anthony Cooper" then said "I hope you find what you're looking for." Oh! That line sounded familiar. I wonder why? Haha! Probably because it has been said a few times before. It doesn't seem like anyone on the Island is finding what they are looking for without meeting some tragic end. But Sideways people seem to be finding what they are looking for without too much tragedy. At least, not yet...

.

3) I totally did not see it coming that John would be responsible for his Dad's vegetable state. John spoke of his Father with love and respect. He wanted his Dad to be the first he flew with. Wow! So, let me get this straight...John and Anthony had a good relationship? Really??? How do you think that all works since we know that Anthony still had a hand in the demise of James' parents? Do you think Anthony was a conman? Maybe he actually had a line this time...I mean a line that he wouldn't cross. Like maybe he was okay conning others, but he would never con his own son... Like that was a line he just wouldn't cross... I really just don't know what to think there.
.
In the meantime, John is punishing himself for the accident and his Dad's vegetable state. That's so sad.
.
4) Island Jack keeps leaving Claire behind! I know this time he didn't do it knowingly, but still. Come on big brother! Look out for your little sis. I appreciated Sideways Jack telling Claire that they are family and offering her a place at his home.
.
5) Sayid told Jack where Desmond was and declared that he knew Jack would be the one chosen...unless I heard that wrong. :(
.
I think Sayid showed that he still had good in him when he grabbed the bomb and ran to the other side of the sub. Whether Sayid is right about Jack, there are only three candidates left. BSM is doing a good job getting rid of them. Sayid is dead now. And both the Kwans. I wonder if we'll ever find out which Kwan Jacob meant. I still think it was Jin, just because all the other candidates are male. Anyhoo, we're down to three: Jack, James, and Hurley. As much as I like Sawyer, I'm leaning towards either Jack or Hurley as the replacement.
.
6) Frank is dead. I liked him and now he is dead. :(
.
I think Jack is right, BSM can't kill the candidates. Hopefully, James and Hurley will listen to him and they can stand up to BSM together and take that smokey monster down!!! For now, the BSM is marching off to Whidmore's camp to "finish what he started". Do you think anyone from Whidmore's team will still be alive for the next episode?? I assume that at least Whidmore will survive.
.
7) So things to look forward to in the next episode:
.
*Desmond being pulled from the well.
*A little more from Whidmore and his camp.
*Hurley, Jack, Sawyer, and Kate forming a plan to take out BSM.
*Richard, Ben, and Miles doing something or other. Not sure that they will blow up the plane, but they still have a part to play. The Island isn't done with them yet.
.
What do you think is going to happen next???

LOST is coming together

**Lost Spoilers Ahead...Proceed With Caution**
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
How great was this last episode! All the characters are coming together. All the story lines are intersecting. Everything is moving forward at such a nice pace. I've been worried that the LOST writers wouldn't be able to pull everything together by the end, but it looks like they will after all! Hooray! Although, the exact satisfaction of the ending is yet to be seen. ;)
.
1) It is so interesting to me that BSM Locke singled out Jack to talk to. I appreciate that Jack asked Hurley for permission first, that he still respected Hurley as a leader. Good job Jack. Why do you think BSM is singling out Jack? Hurley and Sun (maybe) are candidates too. You would think BSM would want to talk with them as well. It looks like Jack might be the front runner! Haha! I also thought it was an interesting conversation because John and Jack had often combated in regards to what the survivors ought to be doing. And here they are again (sort of).
.
2) Claire's statement that letting BSM talk to you means you are already on his side is Bull...in my opinion. I know Jack talked with BSM, but that does not mean he is siding with him. I think it's pretty obvious from Jack's statements on the Island and later on the boat that Jack is against BSM and will do whatever it takes to keep him in check. It was pretty gutsy of Jack to jump off the boat like he did. He is usually so worried about everyone else's well-being. I'm glad that he took into account how he felt when he left the Island the first time. I think he made a good choice. Of course, now he has a bit of hearing impairment and BSM thinks Jack has chosen his team. Can't wait to see what happens there. I seriously doubt Jack will do as Sawyer and pretend to go along. Jack is too mouthy for that. Haha!
.
3) Sun and Jin have a Happy Ending!!! In Sideways and on the Island!!! Well, not really an ending, but whatever. They are having a happy moment. In Sideways, Sun and the baby are saved. Miles told James that Jin was a "Witness" not a suspect. Hooray! They are together and happy. Of course, they'll have to watch out for Sun's Dad. That guy is crazy!
.
And back on the Island, Sun and Jin are reunited and they are both still alive and well. Hooray!! I was so happy seeing their reunion. It was wonderful. I loved Jin's statement: We'll never be apart again. They only thing they have to deal with is Whidmore, but I don't think he will be too much against Jin and Sun. He has been pretty polite to Jin so far. I think that will carry over to his wife.
.
Did you all see Sawyer's face as he watched Sun and Jin's reunion? He looked so sad. It seemed to me that he was remembering Juliet and wishing it was himself having a great reunion. Sorry Sawyer. But you still have Sideways...
.
4) Isn't it great that as powerful as BSM is, he doesn't know everything. He doesn't see everything or understand the true nature of people. It enabled Sawyer to get the boat and get himself, Kate, Claire, Frank, Sun, and Hurley to the other island. It enabled Sayid to look BSM in the eye and tell him he killed Desmond. No one really thinks he did, do they? If so, let me set you straight. Sayid TOTALLY did NOT kill Desmond. How could he? Sayid, with all the bad things he has done, was usually only doing those things to protect people he loved and cared about...not just out of sheer badness. When Desmond asked Sayid what he was going to tell Nadia when she asked what Sayid had done to get her back, I knew Desmond had him. Sayid may be able to look the BSM in the eye and lie, but he could never look Nadia in the eye and do it and he could also never look her in the eye and tell her that he shot a man in cold blood just to get her back. The Nadia that he loves would not stand for that kind of action. And that is why I believe Desmond is still alive. Now, if he is still in the well is another question altogether. I don't know if Sayid would have helped him out of the well or just left him there. I will just have to wait and see.
.
5) Claire went with Kate. Holy Cow! I didn't see that coming. I thought she was completely lost. And her face when Jack took off with the others after she had just told him the only reason that she stayed with BSM is because he was the only one who hadn't abandoned her...CRAZY! I thought she was going to kill Jack for ditching her. I'm glad Kate was able to convince her that they truly did care about her and wanted her back with them and with Aaron. Hurley seems to have been right about both Claire and Sayid...nobody is All Evil. Everyone can be brought back...Just like Anakin. Haha! How funny was it that when Hurley made a Star Wars reference Sawyer had no idea what he was talking about. Hahaha!!! Sorry Hurley. Sawyer was too busy watching Little House on the Prairie to go see Star Wars. Haha!!!
.
6) Desmond in Sideways is awesome! He is bringing everyone together. John getting hit by the car has brought him to Jack in the operating room. I love Jack's confidence when looking at the x-rays and scan pictures: "I got this," he states. Nice!! It sounds like John might not be in a wheelchair for much longer. :)
.
Now the way Desmond approached Claire was a bit stalkerish and kind of creepy in my opinion. I'm glad Claire viewed it as just a caring stranger trying to help her out, but it was making me uncomfortable to watch. The way he kept following her and trying to engage her in conversation. It was just a bit off. Oh well. I still love Desmond. Did I mention I thought about naming this baby after him?? Hubby still thinks that is a good idea. I guess we will just have to wait and see what the kid looks like.
.
Anyhoo, Desmond brought Claire to Ilana the Lawyer who in turn introduced her to Jack her brother. Awkward! Jack did not make a good impression. The way his whole face fell then he turned away from her. Claire probably thinks that she is the problem and that Jack hates her, when in reality Jack is probably just shocked and ticked at his stupid Dad. I was happy to see that Jack and his son David are in a better place relationship-wise.
.
7) I appreciated the interaction between John and Ben in the ambulance. Ben was kind and compassionate. I loved when he told John that he would still marry Helen. Ben was being a comfort! It was such an interesting role to see him play. Again, I have to say that I love Sideways Ben. He is just a great man. Good morals and compassionate.
.
8) I am eager to see what Whidmore's plans are for the newest arrivals to his island. I don't know exactly what he has planned, but I really don't see him killing them...even though they are all currently on their knees with guns pointed at their heads. That gal who is his second-in-command is a gutsy lady. I want to know how much she knows about the Island, Jacob, the BSM, and everything else. Do you think all those people know what is going on? Or do you think that Whidmore is just paying them really well? I'm kind of thinking it must be a combination. Can't wait to see!
.
9) There are only four more episodes left before the Series Finale on Sunday, May 23. I am super-excited! How about you? Hubby and I have a bunch of different theories, as do most of our friends. It will be so fun to see how everything plays out. I'm sure, despite every one's best guesses, there will be reveals that none of us imagined possible. That is one of the things I love about Lost...even when you think you have it figured out, they can throw you a curve ball. The Lost writers aren't afraid of making bold, decisive moves. And they aren't afraid of killing of characters. It will be so interesting to see how this all turns out in the ends.
.
Cross your fingers that it will be a fully satisfying ending!
.
.
.
BTW...Today is my due date. It is now 8:30 pm. There are no signs this baby is coming tonight. Or anytime soon for that matter. I'll let you know when the babe finally does decide to come. At this point I'm thinking that between being rear-ended and the earthquake, the boy is afraid to come out. Haha! Hopefully, he'll feel safe soon and make his grand entrance.
.
In the meantime, Hubby is making me do all sorts of weird things to try and induce labor. Today he has made me eat Pineapple (he read online that it started labor in some ladies), eat a very spicy lunch, he pushed on some pressure point in my ankle (spleen 6)--that one hurt, when I told that to Hubby he said Good, that meant it was working. Aargh! Then he put pressure on the Hoku point in my hand. That one felt pretty good. Oh well. The man spent the morning helping me take care of a sick Mr. J and making strawberry jam, so I can be a good sport as he tries to help me out. And he really is trying to help me. He remembers how hard it was for me to deliver those big babies. Haha! Maybe I'll get lucky and this kid will just be a seven pounder. I mean, a girl can dream can't she. ;)
.
Good Night!

LOST's Best Episode Yet!

**LOST SPOILERS AHEAD...PROCEED WITH CAUTION**

.

.

.

.

.

What a great episode!! It was jam-packed with goodies. Fair warning…I am going to use the word Love a lot in this post. Sorry about the redundancy, but I seriously LOVED this episode!!

.

1) Love the tribute to Hurley. How fun that he was named “Man of the Year”. I loved that he used his money for good purposes, donating to so many humanitarian projects. That seems to me perfectly in line with his character. At least, the character he would be if he wasn’t an unlucky son of a gun like he is in the “real” time line. It was great that Miles’ Dad was the one to give the tribute. I am thoroughly enjoying how each character’s life connects with the other characters from the Island.

.

2) Did you see his Mom’s face during the tribute? I couldn’t figure out what was wrong with her. I started to worry that Hurley and his Momma had a strained relationship. It seemed probable that the Lost writers would feel the need to give Hurley some bad in his Sideways life. I just hadn’t imagined the bad would be his Momma. I was greatly relieved when she spoke up and told Hurley exactly why she was upset…She wants her son to have a woman in his life! Hahahahaha!!! Poor Hurley looked like he wanted to crawl under a rock when his Mom told him he was going on a blind date and that she would keep arranging dates until they found someone. Hahaha!!!

.

3) How could Rosalita stand Hurley up? Sheesh! The guy is nice and filthy rich. You would think she would at least try to give it a shot. Oh well. Her loss and Libby’s gain. I totally didn’t recognize Libby at first. I asked Hubby if it was a different actress. He assured me the woman was the same Libby as before. Huh.

.

It was wonderful to watch her come up to Hurley. Both Libby and Hurley’s faces lit up when they saw each other. I was busting up laughing that Hurley couldn’t look Libby in the eye. He was so shy and awkward. Haha! He kept looking everywhere but at her.

.

I loved when Libby said that they were soul mates. I had wondered about the intensity of her feelings. We all knew that Hurley adored her and were starting to see that she loved him back, but then she was killed and I was left wondering about the level of her feelings. It’s nice to hear that she felt, and feels, the same way about Hurley as he feels toward her.

.

4) I was taken aback when the congressman from X-Men came to take Libby away. The Lost guys keep bringing in people I know from other sci-fi shows. It kind of throws me off. I keep thinking I should know them from the Island, when in reality I just know them from other shows. Oh well. Dr. Brooks he is now. He was quite diplomatic about leading Libby away. Oftentimes mental institutions are portrayed as harsh and uncaring. I was glad that Libby was somewhere with a doctor who seemed to respect her and her privacy. Even later in his office when Hurley comes to talk to him, Dr. Brooks is very careful about what information he gives regarding Libby and I felt he spoke respectfully of her.

.

5) I do love Desmond something fierce. Having said that, I am sure that I have just set in motion his death for the next episode. L Sorry Desmond.

.

It was great seeing him at the chicken restaurant, trying to play it cool…like he was just bumping into Hurley and not actually stalking him to help him “See”. He came off pretty smooth though. Hurley certainly didn’t catch on. It was quite interesting listening to Desmond advise Hurley to give Libby a chance. I’m glad Hurley listened.

.

Hurley showed a take-charge kind of attitude when speaking to Dr. Brooks. He was willing to do whatever he could to talk to Libby again. I loved when he said the Rec Center looked like it could use some help then whipped out his checkbook. I laughed as Hurley, again, couldn’t quite look Libby in the eye as he asked her out. And I absolutely adored her response…She would “Love” to go on a date with Hurley. Hooray!!!

.

6) The date at the beach was perfect. So many fairy tales work out in the end because of a kiss. I loved that it was a kiss from Libby that helped Hurley to “see”. That was a great moment, made even better when the picture scanned over to a shot of Desmond sitting in his car watching. I could just hear him thinking, “One down, Lots to go.” Desmond looked pretty satisfied as he drove away. I have decided to dub Desmond the “Fairy God Father” of Lost. He is flitting along, helping the other passengers “see”. Setting things right.

.

7) I wonder how Desmond is determining which things will help the other passengers “See”. Hurley got off easy. He just needed a kiss. Poor John Locke!

.

It was hilarious when Desmond was watching him and Ben came to the car. I love Sideways Ben. He is such a good guy. I love that he confronted Desmond, ready to tear him apart for being a pervert and stalking some poor high school kid. Haha!

.

I thought Desmond would try to talk to Locke. I never imagined he would run him down! Did you notice Desmond’s face before he started his car? It was a look of resignation mingled with determination. It seemed to me that he didn’t really want to run Locke over, but somehow knew that THAT was how Locke would “see” and was determined to have that outcome, no matter the means. I hope it works.

.

From the previews for next week, it looks like Locke is in a pretty serious condition. They showed him convulsing a bit and wearing a neck brace. How much do you want to bet that Locke somehow ends up at the hospital where Jack works? Remember Jack? The great spinal surgeon? I am thinking that the odds are pretty good.

.

8) Back on the Island, Ilana blew herself up!! Crikey!!! I totally didn’t see that coming! Well, I kind of saw it coming, but I thought the dynamite would go off later and that she would just suffer some injuries. I did NOT think that she would die so soon! It was so abrupt!

.

Did everyone hear Ben’s comment? He was musing on Ilana’s death. She was hand-picked by Jacob, trained to protect the candidates. Then she told the candidates that they were candidates. Ben said Ilana lived just long enough to tell the candidates what they were and then the Island was through with her. She wasn’t necessary anymore and Boom! She was gone! Ben wondered aloud what the Island would do when it was through with the rest of them. I wonder about that too!

.

Desmond is thinking along the same lines. He states, very matter of factly, that the Island has it in for everyone. I can hardly wait to see how this all unfolds!!

.

9) Back on the Island, Hurley has stepped up and taken charge. I was surprised that Jack completely backed off and followed Hurley. I loved his explanation later about letting go and trusting Hurley. That is a huge step for Jack. I like Jack much better as a humble and contrite man.

.

It was fun to see Hurley try to bluff about seeing Jacob. He is such a bad liar! I’m glad that Richard didn’t fall for it. I loved that Hurley told Richard that he didn’t have to prove anything to him. A huge step for Hugo! He is growing into a strong and assertive man. It suits him. I wasn’t expecting their little gang to split up. And certainly not the way it did. Who would have thought Ben would follow Richard? After everything they been through, I expected Ben to question Richard, not follow him. And then Miles leaving too. Although, Miles really doesn’t have any connections to the gang like he did to Sawyer, Jin, and Juliet. They had all worked and lived together for three years. But Jack, Sun, Frank and Hurley have no real ties to Miles. I hope Richard, Ben and Miles are going to be alright.

.

I hope Hurley’s plan to talk to BSM turns out alright. I am really nervous about that. It seems like Hurley, Jack, and Sun should be safe from the BSM’s wrath. He told Claire before that he needed the people whose names were listed in the cave. But that leaves Frank completely open…unless BSM wants him to fly the plane. Hmmm. Hopefully, Frank can use his pilot experience to keep himself alive. I’m excited to hear the conversation play out next week. That should be some excellent writing!

.

10) It was interesting to learn that the whispers in the wood are souls trapped because of the bad things they had done. I was sorry to see Michael there, but happy that he was penitent about killing Libby. He had expressed sorrow for that action before, when he was on the boat, but it was nice he was able to say it to Hurley…the man who was so greatly affected by Michael’s actions. It was also interesting that when Hurley asked Michael if there was anything he could do to help him, Michael’s response was for Hurley not to get killed. I wonder what Hurley’s final role will be in this grand adventure…

.

11) As Sayid leads BSM through the forest, did you notice his face? It is void of all emotion. He is like the walking dead. That makes me so sad for Sayid…even though he made that choice himself. I hope there will be a chance for redemption for Sayid and a chance at happiness. Love has played such a huge role in the last few episodes. However, every time Sayid finds love, his love is Killed! Even in Sideways, where most people are happy, Sayid’s love is lost to him.

.

Anyhoo, back to the forest. Desmond looked so calm sitting tied to the tree. I worried that BSM would kill him then and there. With everything that Desmond knows, how does he not know that Locke is Dead? Ey-yah! He thinks the BSM really is John Locke. It was interesting watching them walk through the forest together. The things that caught my eye:

.

1-Desmond can see the boy. I still don’t know what that means, but BSM freaks out every time he sees the boy and his eye seems to twitch when he learns that another person can see the boy too.

.

2-Desmond thinks the Island has it out for “all of us”.

.

3-Desmond isn’t afraid. His statement of "What is there to be afraid of" seems to throw BSM off for a few moments. BSM really just doesn’t seem to know what to make of Desmond and his calm demeanor. I’m not sure if BSM fully understands the implications of Desmond’s presence on the Island. It seemed that, on learning that Desmond had survived the electromagnetic stuff twice, BSM’s face grew a bit wary, not afraid exactly, but definitely wary. He knows that Desmond is a threat to him, but I don’t think he knows the exact extent or type of threat.

.

12) So, everyone knew that Desmond was going to be thrown into the well. Right? I mean it was pretty obvious. Personally, I thought BSM might kill him first then throw him into the well. But considering Desmond could see the boy, I don’t know if BSM can kill Desmond. I was worried the fall would have finished the job, but from next week’s tease, we see that Desmond is alive and sporting a nasty gash to the head. Next week’s tease also shows Sayid pointing a gun down at Desmond and we hear a gun shot. Yeah Right! I totally don’t buy that Sayid is going to kill Desmond like that. It’s just not how things are done on the Island. Plus, they teased the scene to look like that, which means the Lost promoters are probably trying to set us all up again. It will be fun to see how that plays out next week.

.

13) And my final note, Hubby thinks he has figured out how the series will end. He thinks it will end with everyone in Sideways. He thinks that eventually Desmond will track down all the passengers, they will “see”, have their memories from the Island, but still have their happy lives in Sideways, which will then be enriched by their experiences from the Island. I think Hubby has lost it. That would be a cheesy ending. And very unsatisfying. I want to know what happens to everyone ON THE ISLAND. Sideways is just an Alice in Wonderland thing to me. Not real. I want everyone to live happily ever after, but this is Lost we are talking about! We will be lucky if a few people get a decently ever after. How do you think it will end?

Projects Completed and LOST Theories

Before I get to the LOST stuff, I have a few updates on projects I've been working on.
.
First up, Cakes' quilt.
.
I finally got that sucker done. Hoorah!! My original plan was to hand quilt it, but that just seemed too overwhelming. I opted to machine quilt it instead. I put it on a frame and pin basted the layers together. I have been assured by many quilters that this technique works marvelously for them. I think they lied. Even with the pin basting and following all their tips, I had bunches and overlaps. Aaargh! It's very frustrating to have made a beautiful quilt top only to have it marred by bad quilting. Next time I'll just tie it or have someone long-arm stitch it.
.

.
I put about 600 curved pins into the quilt. Aren't the colors of this quilt beautiful!!! I was so happy when I picked them out. Keep in mind that I started this quilt in March 2008. I took at class at my favorite shop in Topeka. I finished the top in class then packed it, the backing, and all the scraps away since we were getting ready to move. It's been packed since.
.
.
Even with the overlaps, the quilt turned out nicely. I am just relieved to have it done and on Cakes' bed. That goofy kid was so excited while I was making the quilt. He kept declaring that it was his. As soon as it was done though, he told me that it wasn't his blanket and promptly showed me which blanket was his. It is the yellow baby blanket my dear Aunt K made for him before he was born. He loves that thing! He lets my quilt lay on his bed, but refuses to sleep with it touching him. Haha! Maybe I should just give the quilt to the new baby. ;)
.
.
.
The other project I have finally completed is making my "Pay It Forward" gifts. I took pictures of all three items. I put them in the mail this morning. They will be arriving in Nevada and Utah sometime Friday and in Kansas sometime on Tuesday. Since I don't want to ruin the surprise for the three ladies receiving the gifts, I'm saving the pictures until next week. For now, here is a picture of the boxes on their way out.
.
Let me know when your gift gets to you!
.
.
.
And now, for LOST...
.
.
**Lost Spoilers Ahead...Proceed With Caution***
.
.
.
.
.
.
Have I mentioned how much I love Desmond? Because I do. I think he is an excellent character. I enjoy the Scottish accent, how he calls everyone "Brother", and his determination. At one point in the name game, I was reading through my Celtic Names book and I came across the name Desmond. I seriously considered naming this babe Desmond for a couple of weeks. Then I told my Mom and she started laughing so hard that she had to hang up and get a drink. She called back later to apologize and let me know that she would be fine if I named the baby boy Desmond, she would just be giggling everytime she said his name for the first few years. Sheesh! That knocked that name out. ;)
.
Anyhoo, it was wonderful seeing Desmond. I was wondering when he would come into play again. He was an integral character through the past few seasons.
.
1) Hubby and I loved when Whidmore was telling Desmond that he was back on the Island how Desmond's skin right between his lip and nose started twitching like crazy! And his eye went a little berserk too. That was some good acting!
.
2) Poor guy. He'd already been through so much because of the Island. Then he was shot and removed from his wife and son. But I never thought he would go after Whidmore physically like he did. With all the times that Desmond hit him, I was surprised that Charles only ended up with a gash to the forehead. Did you just love how in Sideways Charles and Desmond are FRIENDS!! Eloise was correct when she said that what Desmond craved most was Whidmore's approval, however she forgot that the only reason he wanted that approval was because he was Penny's Dad. I loved when Charles said, "Nothing's too good for you." That was so ironic!
.
3) How funny was it when Charlie was describing the love that he saw in his near-death experience...he used the word "Voluptuous" to describe Claire. Haha! I think the drugs must have messed with his vision. Claire is a beautiful gal, but I would never use the word voluptuous to describe her.
.
4) Love was a major theme of this episode. Charlie flashed and saw Claire. Desmond flashed and saw Penny. Daniel flashed and saw Charlotte. All three men recognized these women and were overwhelmed by the feelings of love they had towards the stranger women. And all three men wanted to regain that love in the Sideways world. When Daniel said that he believed he had already set off the bomb, he seemed wistful to return to the world that brought him Charlotte. Too bad that in that world both he and Charlotte are dead! As for Charlie and Claire, one is dead and the other completely bonkers. Only Desmond and Penny have a good life in the first timeline.
.
5) Eloise knows! She knows they are in a parallel timeline! And she seems to know the rules and bounds. Wow!
.
One of my Lost friends thinks Eloise made a deal with the Smoke Monster to get her son back (remember...she shot Daniel while on the Island?). My friend thinks Eloise might be behind the whole Sideways timeline. If that proves true, then Whoa! I don't know if my mind will be able to handle it. Personally, I'm still stuck on Jacob having manipulated everything. There are lots of other theories floating around on the Internet. Most of those blow my mind too. There are just so many ways the Lost writers could go with this story. And with only five episodes left until the season finale...well, I guess I will just have to wait and see. Again, I hope the Lost writers give us a satisfactory ending. Cross your fingers!
.
6) I loved, loved, loved the end. I was so worried that the limo driver was going to shoot Desmond. Seriously! That kind of stuff happens on Lost. There aren't too many happy or calm endings to shows. How great is it that Desmond is going to find the other passengers. He has "something to show them." So cool!! It will be fun to watch him track down the other passengers and try to show them what he saw.
.
7) The next episode is titled "Everybody Loves Hurley". So we should finally get the back story of Hurley's new life. They have teased it this entire season. It will be nice to see what actually happened with the man.
.
8) And my final thought...it was hilarious to me that Daniel Faraday, the great Physicist, was a musician in Sideways. Hahaha! It would be fun to hear him play or sing or whatever it is he does.

I Keep Missing LOST!!

Due to forces beyond my control, I have missed the last two episodes of LOST! It is very disheartening to this pregnant lady. :(
.
The first episode I missed because children had messed with TV wires. ABC was completely gone. Of course, we only realized this five minutes before LOST began. Hubby worked valiantly to remedy the problem, but to no avail. Wednesday we watched the episode online. Hubby says it is his favorite episode ever. That's because he's a sappy, lovey-dovey kind of guy. ;) He liked the love story between Richard and Isabella. Why is it that most relationships on LOST have tragic endings? The only relationship I can think of that has a happy ending is Rose and Bernard. Even then, Rose has terminal cancer. But at least they're okay on the Island.
.
The second episode I missed--last night's episode--was because I was in the hospital...labor and delivery section.
.
Now before you get ahead of yourself, look at the first paragraph...I am still a pregnant lady.
.
Yesterday evening, Hubby was home early, I had dinner ready early, we finished eating and got the dishes done early. With everything getting done early, I had time to run to the grocery store to buy the final items needed for my labor-hospital bag. What was missing from my bag? Snacks for my coach!!
.
Joe and Rose asked to tag along. I agreed. We are on spring break and my kiddos needed some snacks too. So we jumped into the truck and off we went to Albertson's.
.
We had a blast. We got some healthy snacks, some junky snacks, and a few Gatorade's to make sure Dad would stay hydrated while acting as my coach.
.
We bought our items, walked out to the truck, loaded up, and headed home.
.
As I was sitting at a RED LIGHT, talking to the kids about the special treat I had gotten for Dad (cashews, his favorite!), my truck was hit hard from behind. It was not great.
.
We were thrown forward and then pulled back by the seat belts (thank goodness for seat belts!). Heads and necks were hurt, kids were frightened, and I was shocked. The light was RED!
.
I don't want to get into details because it is long and makes me mad thinking about. The basics are that everyone is alright. Just bumps and soreness. I spent the night in the hospital to ensure that the baby was alright and that the placenta hadn't been damaged. The babe and all things utero are fine. My neck, however, is stiff and sore. Grrr.
.
Good things about the collision:
.
1. The guy who hit us stopped and took responsibility. He got out of his truck to make sure we were okay and tried to help.
.
2. The guy had insurance.
.
3. When the police came, the guy honestly told what happened...He didn't see us or the light due to the blinding Arizona sun. He received a ticket.
.
4. Witnesses stayed to tell what happened.
.
5. Neither my children nor myself received any large injuries.
.
6. We were in the truck. The guy was also driving a truck...a big work truck with a large grill in the front. If he'd hit us in the van, well...it would have been a lot worse. As it is, the truck's back bumper is dented.
.
7. I was far enough behind the stop line at the RED light that the hit only pushed my car into the cross-walk and not into the intersection where cars were going! Also, no one was in the cross-walk.
.
8. The police, ambulance, and firefighters got there quickly. They were kind to me and my children.
.
9. When I got home later, Miss Q ran up gave me a big hug and told me how worried she was about me. And then she said, "I just love you so much. I was scared for you." She LOVES me! She's never said that before. That was a very nice thing.
.
And that is it.
.
I would watch LOST now, however I promised my kids long ago that today was Fair Day. I may have many faults, but keeping promises is not one of them. So, off to the Fair we go.
.
Wish me Luck!

LOST with James

**LOST Spoilers Ahead...Proceed With Caution**

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

I’ve decided that if I don’t type this up immediately following tonight’s episode, I won’t get it done at all. So here goes:

.

1) BSM Locke is a bad, bad guy. I know I’ve said that before, but with Lost, you just never know. Sometimes a character will seem bad, but turn out to be good…just misunderstood. The more we get into this season, the more we see of BSM’s choices, the more I’m convinced that he truly is evil.

.

For example, BSM Locke tells the Others who followed him that the “Black Smoke” killed the people at the temple. He completely fails to mention that he is the Black Smoke. Then, when the children get scared, he comforts them by telling them that he will take care of them. Really Locke?? REALLY??? Aren’t YOU the one that just killed everyone? Ey-yah!

.

Another example is when BSM Locke trying to explain to Kate why Claire is bent on killing her. BSM tells Kate that in order to help Claire move forward, he had to give her something to hate, so he told her that the Others had taken Aaron. Ummm… Why did Claire have to have something to hate? Why couldn’t you have just told her that Aaron was safe and sound off the Island? You could have told her that someday she might get off the Island too and then she could see Aaron again, they would be reunited. I think a bit of Hope would have been a better something to give than Hate. Don’t you?

.

We also got a bit more information about the BSM’s pre-Island life. He grew up with a crazy mom. Ummm. Okay. That seems like TMI right now, but I’m sure it will prove very important later on.

.

2) How great was it when James said “LeFleur” and in stormed the troops? I did NOT see that coming! I thought he would just sweet talk his way out, like the dear conman we have all come to know and love. But nope! He was telling the truth. The place was surrounded. Haha! That was such a great move! Good job LOST writers! And making Miles his partner was just a stroke of genius. They worked so well on the Island together, it makes sense that they would be partners in Sideways as well.

.

I appreciate that Miles has a strong character, that he stands up to James and expects complete honesty from his partner. I was worried he would be a patsy to James and just take whatever bull he dealt. Miles definitely did not. When James finally confessed his plan for killing Sawyer, Miles says absolutely he will talk him out of it. And I believe he will. That someway or another, Miles will make sure that his partner doesn’t end up a murderer. Of course, that conversation got cut short when Kate’s car slammed into James’ car.

.

3) I called it! Claire tried to kill Kate and BSM Locke stepped in to stop her. Poor crazy Claire. How weird was it when she later apologized to Kate and thanked her for taking care of Aaron? I kept expecting her to pull out a knife and finish Kate off. I’m still expecting it. I don’t think we’ve seen the end of that.

.

4) Hubby called that Zoey was with Whidmore. I told him he was way off. Oops. How did all those people get there? Only so many could have fit on the sub. Were they on the plane too? And what did happen to the pile of dead people? I’m thinking BSM killed them. What do you think?

.

5) Whidmore is a smart man. He’s worked for a long time to get to the Island. He even brought Pylons with him. Good job Charles! I’m hoping that he doesn’t buy in completely to the lines Sawyer is feeding. As for Sawyer, he is playing both sides. That could come back to bite him in the bum. Neither Whidmore nor BSM will be kind to him if they find out. At least with Whidmore, Sawyer would be able to duck and dodge and maybe make it out alive. But with BSM, well, there is no way to avoid that monster.

.

Does anyone want to take a guess as to what is in the locked room on the Sub? I am wracking my brain, but am coming up with so many crazy ideas I just don’t know which way to go. Any insight into that would be greatly appreciated.

.

6) Sawyer promised Jin that he would help him find Sun. I didn’t think that Jin would willingly go with Locke. Too bad he’s physically unable to get away. He’s still stuck in BSM’s gang. Sawyer and Jin were together for the last three years, as was Miles. Sawyer does seem loyal to those people that he chooses to be his friends. I’m betting that he keeps his promise to Jin.

.

I was a bit taken aback when Sawyer approached Kate at the fire. He said, “You and Me are getting off this Island.” I started wondering if he was going to bail on the other people he cared about like Hurley, Miles, Jin and Sun. We all know that he doesn’t care what happens to Jack, but I do think he might try to get the others off…maybe…

.

7) Charlotte was a fun character in this episode. During the date she called James on his bull. Always a good sign. Juliet would do that to him too. I miss Juliet. :( I thought they might actually work out, then the girl got all snoopy in James’ stuff. Sheesh. Don’t go through somebody’s private stuff! It doesn’t matter if you just slept with him, you’ve only known the man for a few hours and he is a very private man. I felt bad for her getting kicked out at three in the morning, but felt she deserved it after nosing around.

.

Then a day or so later, when James shows up on her doorstep to apologize…Hahaha! She lets him have it. Admit it, you would have totally caved and let him come in. Haha! But not Charlotte. She tears into him a bit and tells him he blew it. Whoa! No second chances with this gal.

.

8) How weird was it to see James watching “Little House on the Prairie”. Poor little orphan boy. He misses his mom and dad. As Papa Charles Ingalls explains to Laura that people aren’t gone when they’re dead, that they’re still with us in all our good memories, James seems to have a small epiphany. That moment appears to be the catalyst to James trying to make amends with Charlotte and Miles.

.

9) Seeing Charlotte made me think of Farady and wonder where he was. Then it dawned on me! If the Island had blown up in the 1970’s, some of the characters we know now would be dead.

.

First, remember last week’s episode…Ben’s Dad said maybe they should have stayed on the Island, that Ben’s life might have been better. (BTW it was nice to see Ben and his Dad have a caring relationship in Sideways last week.)

.

If Ben left when he was still young, he never got Whidmore kicked off the Island. When the Island blew up, Whidmore would have still been there, along with Faraday’s Mom and possibly a baby Faraday. So those three characters can be crossed off the Sideways storyline.

.

Now, Penny would still be alive. She was born off the Island to a different Momma. And Desmond would most likely still have met her, but instead of trying (and failing) to prove himself to Daddy Whidmore, he and Penny could have just lived happily. Hooray! At least one couple would have had a happy ending…assuming they still meet…I'm going to assume they did meet, because I really liked both Penny and Desmond's characters.

10) The promo for next week says that we will finally get Richard’s story. I am excited. I hope it’s a good one. I’ve been imagining his story for so long now. I can hardly wait to see what it really is. I’m also interested in seeing exactly what kind of touch Jacob gave him to make it so he never ages again.
.
.
.
Well, that's it for me. I am going to bed. In case you didn't see, I did end up writing about last week's episode. I posted that entry this morning.
.
On a pregnancy note, Joe is helping me with my countdown. I'm counting weeks, he's counting days. As of today I have "35 days left to Zero". That means only 14 days left until I'm considered full term. Wish me luck. Oh! And did I mention one of the names I'm considering is Jim... Of course, that consideration has nothing to do with Sawyer or Lost...nothing at all. ;)

LOST promo lied!

I figure I better get my thoughts typed out regarding last week’s episode before I watch tonight’s episode. I have really been having trouble finding time to just sit down and write. Most of my time in consumed with foster parenting. There are so many meetings, phone calls, paperwork, court dates, etc. involved with fostering. Oh well, enough of my excuses and on with my thoughts:

.

1) Benjamin Linus has a Doctorate in History. I can’t remember which specific area, but just having a doctorate…WOW! That is a lot of work, a lot of research. A doctorate carries with it a measure of prestige. I remember telling Hubby that when I earn my doctorate he’ll have to refer to me as Dr. Blue, as will everyone else I know. Haha! It’s such a huge accomplishment. I think anyone who has earned it ought to be referred by that title. If I have it when my kids get married, I told Hubby that I’m going to include my title on their wedding announcements:

.

Mr. & Dr. Blue are pleased to announce the marriage of…

.

Yet poor Ben doesn’t seem to have reaped any of the benefits that comes from having a doctorate.

.

Can you believe his principal?? I thought he was a jerk from the first encounter, but the more we learned about him the more I disliked him. I agree with Ben’s assessment that the principal doesn’t care about the students, he cares about the power. Isn’t that an interesting parallel to Island Ben. Island Ben stated that the loss of power would be worse than exile. Interesting.

.

I thought it was hilarious that when Dr. Linus was complaining about the principal John piped up and encouraged him to become the principal. Ben’s shocked face was priceless! Then John saying that he would follow Ben because he seemed to really care about the students, oh wow! That was just so close to the Island events. John followed Ben because he cared about the Island, and now in Sideways he will follow Ben because he cares about the students. Hahaha!!!

.

2) Both Sideways Ben and Island Ben have shown themselves compassionate and caring men. I know I just said that Island Ben made decisions that cost lives, but he truly believed that it was for the betterment of all and he seemed to regret each life lost.

.

Isn’t it great that both Ben’s lives are greatly impacted by Alex Rousseau? Ben only became the leader of the Others after he refused to kill baby Alex and in so doing ousted Charles Widmore. In Sideways he again would have become leader over a decision regarding Alex. I think he made the right decision both times. On the Island by not killing baby Alex and in Sideways by not throwing Alex’s future away for his own power play. Although, Ben did chose the Island over Alex in the end, thus costing Alex her life.

.

3) I think Ben was in awe of Ilana. First, after she described her relationship to Jacob, Ben seemed unable to look away from her. His face, in my opinion, clearly showed awe. Then at the end, as Ben is trying to run away and Ilana is tracking him down…WOW! That was a powerful scene! I absolutely loved how Ilana, after calmly listening to Ben’s excuses and hearing how he is going to join the BSM because he’s the only one who’ll have him, I loved, Loved, LOVED Ilana’s response. “I’ll have you.” She said it calmly, matter-of-factly, then turned and walked away, leaving Ben to make a choice, his face a mixture of surprise, awe, and disbelief. I’m glad that Ben chose to follow after Ilana. And did you notice the change in his demeanor once he felt wanted? All this time, he seems to have still been the little boy, trying to fit in, trying to make friends, and completely failing. Isn’t it interesting how that fact is completely true to life…a person who feels wanted will do anything and everything they can to help while a person who feels unwanted tends to make bad decisions and drift into a life of uselessness or crime.

.

Remember when Miles told Ben that Jacob hoped up until the end that he was wrong about Ben? It looks like Jacob’s final hope came true. Ben is going to be a good guy afterall. :)

.

Also, did everyone hear the promo for this last episode? It said that Ben would meet his demise. Sheesh! All episode I was thinking he was going to die. They kept throwing him in situations that seemed to spell the end, only to have him squeak by again. Don’t get me wrong. I am thrilled that Ben survived this episode. He is a great character. I just think it was chintzy for the promo to say that he would meet his demise which led to me fretting all week. Fretting is not good for a big, fat pregnant lady! Hubby thinks that maybe the promo was truthful afterall, if you look at it from the perspective that Ben says as the leader are over. Whatever. :P

.

4) Hurley, again, ROCKS! “Cheese Curds.” Hahahaha! Do you think he’s just a tad hungry? ;)

.

I also love that he asked Richard if he was a cyborg or a vampire. Fabulous!

.

5) Poor Richard. Jacob is dead, so he thinks all the plans are over and failed. Of course, we know that Jacob is still working his plans from the other side. I’m glad that Jack was able to show Richard a bit of hope.

.

How crazy was it when Jack lit the fuse? I know Jack said that he didn’t think the fuse would work, but did you see his face? When he closed his eyes, it seemed as though he was willing to accept whichever outcome, death or the fuse not working, with complete serenity. COMPLETE! His face was so peaceful. That was a bit freaky! I’m not sure where his character is going. He was so sure that Faraday’s plan would work. When it didn’t, he started doubting things again. Have you noticed that about Jack? He swings between complete self-confidence and utter insecurity in the face of defeat. At the end of the episode he was back on the self-confidence trail, believing that Jacob had a plan and that he, himself was important. That’s another funny thing about this show that parallels life…Jack is such a key figure to the whole Island. Many of the other survivors rely heavily on him, they trust his judgment and seek his advise and support. And yet, Jack often feels that he has no importance and is only hurting things, not helping. I’ve seen this same thing occur in the psyche of many people that I regard as leaders…Often they only see those things they’ve done wrong and fail to see all the good they have accomplished.

.

6) Miles is a great character. My favorite moments from this episode:

.

* Turning Ben’s words against him when describing Jacob’s final moments.

* Scoffing at Ben’s offer of $3.2 million then stating that there were two people who were buried alive with about $8 million in diamonds. Haha!

* The end scene of Miles counting his diamonds. Lovely! Miles has tried for so long to get money and now he has…without hurting anyone in the process. :)

.

7) Richard explained his longevity by stating that Jacob had touched him. Hmmm. Through the conversation he implied that since Jacob had touched him, he stayed young and couldn’t kill himself. It makes me wonder about the final candidates. They were all touched by Jacob. Will they stay at that age forever? Remember how self-destructive Jack was at the end of the three years? He did many things that could have ended his life, yet he remained safe. And John, he tried to kill himself, but it ended up being Ben who could finish the job….

.

It will be fun to see how this idea plays out. Also, does this mean that their bodies stay in the same condition forever? That will be interesting to see in regards to Hurley.

.

8) The end of this episode was HAPPY!! After so many cliffhangers and intense moments, it was a pure joy to watch the reactions of Sun, Frank, Ilana, and Miles as they saw Jack, Hurley, and Richard come onto the beach. They were all so happy to see each other, so glad to be back together. The relief and joy that was in their faces made my heart happy.

.

Then I saw Ben. He looked so little standing on the outside of the reunion. But then Jack caught his eye and smiled. And we all know that Hurley will be kind to him. The interesting thing will be to see the reunion conversation between Richard and Ben. Hmmm. Last time they saw each other was right after Ben murdered Jacob. But Ben seems so little and penitent. I hope everything works out for him…even though he has been a lying, manipulative, murdering, son of a gun. ;)

.

9) WHIDMORE IS COMING!!! AAAAAHHH!! When Jacob said a friend was coming to the Island, I thought it might be Charles, but there were so many other people that it could have been too. Desmond, Faraday’s Mom, a new character. I’m excited that it is Whidmore. He is such a strong and powerful character. We really haven’t seen too much of him. I am thrilled that he will be in this final season. And did you hear where they are headed to?? The OTHER island! The one where BSM said he and his followers were gathering. That little tidbit made me consider whether Whidmore was going to help BSM get off the Island, but I just don’t see that as a possibility… Here’s hoping I’m not proved wrong.

.

.

.

So that is it. My thoughts on last week’s phenomenal episode. That’s right. I called it phenomenal. There were so many great parts to it. It really was terrific!

.

My prediction is that tonight’s episode will focus on the other Island and BSM’s group. Things to look forward to if that is the case:

.

1) Kate and Claire’s reunion. Will Claire kill Kate outright? Or will BSM convince her that Kate will prove useful in getting Aaron back. Also, do you think Kate will rat Jack out as a helper in taking Aaron from the Island?

.

2) Kate and Sawyer’s reunion.

.

3) Jin and Claire’s reunion, now that Claire knows that Jin was telling the truth at first about Kate taking Aaron, then lying about it to save his hide. Something tells me that Claire will not be too happy about that.

.

4) Jin and BSM’s reunion. Jin did not choose BSM’s side, it was kind of forced on him. It will be interesting to see if he will try to escape, try to convince others not to follow BSM, or just go along with things until he has a better chance of escape.
